Shizuoka Trip Part 2

After checking out Nihondaira, and buying the sweetest strawberries ever (this is a local food speciality here), Yukino wanted to check out the water at the nearby beach.  Sure enough, there was a nice drunk Japanese man who wanted to take a picture of us and made us pose like this-

Shizuoka Trip

Yukino and I planned for a weekend trip to Shizuoka prefecture a while ago.  Our trusty Nissan March-

The sights

Interesting graffiti near my old work place-

This says "In two years, famous.  Four years, rich."

After work Yukino and I went to Ginza, Tokyo for some grub.  Ginza is the rich, crazy expensive shop area of Tokyo.

Yurakucho is part of Ginza is well known for its salaryman yakitori eateries where you can find tons of men relaxing after work with a beer and some meat on sticks.  Before the rush it looked like this-

We sat down outside at one of the places and ordered lots of meat-

The guys next to us saw me staring at their food with a quizzical look on my face and offered some of it to me.  I forget what it was but I think its some sort of stomach or something-

By the time we left, the place was pretty well packed-

On a different day, I decided to make a good Rory style lunch for us.  Sandwiches here are crap for the most part so I have to do this every now and then to feel good-

I even made some Popees* style ice cream sandwiches-

We then went to the beach.  This guy was enjoying himself-

This guy was also enjoying himself-

Ma-chan smoking like a king-

Yukino and I went model shopping and I ended up buying this "Gun Tank."

One day, we went for a little scooter ride to Shonandaira, a lonely hill on the coast with good views.  She had fun on the rope course-

I thought this was funny.  Its the same name you can find on the Initial D Toyota that I have posted before.  Not quite sure why it was on a motorcycle-

Tube

Before going out to Daikoku, I went to the beach to meet some friends at the Tube concert.  I had never heard of Tube before that really.  Apparently, they are a famous old band that plays beachy kind of music.

Scooters like this are not uncommon at the beach-

I want an antique lump!

A friend was helping out at the famous Sasebo burger stand.  Gigantic burgers and free for me!  The owner was really nice and sold Coronas to me and my friends for only $1 instead of the usual $6.

These kids were playing a sponsored game-

It was the first time I had ever seen race cars on a beach-

I wasn't too surprised to see these hula dancers though-

I have never seen so many public toilets in Japan-

I met up with my friends back in town again but by then they had befriended some guy on the street.  He bought us drinks and took us all out to all you can drink and eat at a karaoke bar.  Nice guy-

Daikoku Futo Parking Area

While this IS a car post, it shouldn't bore you.  Daikoku Futo is a famous parking area in Yokohama and plays host to car meetings all the time.  On any given night you can find amazing cars from all genres.

A friend from work picked me up in his new Skyline and we headed out there around 9pm.  It was my first time going at night and it was quite a sight.  The parking lot was filled with tons of amazing cars and the whole place was filled with techno music coming from mobile dance clubs that people built.  There was a tad of drifting thrown in also.

An interesting Lincoln-

The girl plastered all over this car is Ayumi Hamasaki, a famous singer here.  Some people still worship her and use her as a theme for their car-

Zushi walk around

Zushi is a popular little beach town near Fujisawa.  Yukino and I decided to ride our bikes down and have a nice walk around because we were bored.

Here are some pictures from that walk just to show you the variety of houses you can find in this area. Some nice, some ugly.
